Walker J's Exhibition from May 4 to 28, 2017

VERNISSAGE: Sunday May 7, from 2pm to 5pm

Reconnect with nature and childhood memories by visiting Walker J’s exhibition “Meadowlarking” which takes place at La Fab Arts Centre from May 4 to 28, 2017.

“The sense of immersion in nature is a memory that connects with many of us.
For me it flows from the experience of a childhood spent mostly outdoors and, for many years now, as a denizen of Chelsea beside the Gatineau Park,” explains the artist.

Through a series of abstract paintings utilizing a wonderful palette of colors which evokes the freshness of spring and the glorious days of summer, Walker J invites us to go back to those childhood days when we would “wander free and openhearted in the woods and the meadows” collecting little treasures left by nature and returning home with our spoils.

The artist has been inspired recently by countries that have granted legal personhood to natural systems, such as Switzerland, Ecuador and New Zealand.  Blending the simpler motifs of design with the free and personal style of abstract expressionism, she seeks to “explore some of the sense of ‘personhood’, sometimes lost to childhood, that the natural world so often appears to embody”.

So, open your heart to nature and its wonders.  Come to La Fab and chat with the artist at her vernissage on Sunday, May 7, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
